Richard Clayderman , artist de origine franceza, pe numele sau adevarat Philippe Pages, a inceput sa cante la pian de la o varsta foare frageda, tatal sau fiind profesor de pian. La doar 12 ani a fost acceptat la conservator. El a devenit celebru in 1976 cu piesa "Ballade pour Adeline", compusa de Paul de Senneville si care s-a vandut in peste 22 milioane de copii, in 38 de tari. Clayderman este singurul artist francez ale carui discuri s-au vandut in peste 70 de milioane de exemplare, in peste 57 de tari. El este detinatorul a peste 267 discuri de aur si a 70 discuri de platina.
