The stamps are very colorful and festive, and for good reason - they are a celebration of the combined role for Galway, Ireland, and Rijeka, Croatia, as European Capital of Culture 2020.
As part of one of the biggest cultural events in the world, Galway, often referred to as the Cultural Heart of Ireland, will host hundreds of events throughout 2020, aiming to empower communities and to unite them through culture. Rijeka, the third largest city in Croatia, will similarly host a rich cultural program in 2020.
Tomislav Tomic designed the Rijeka stamp while Steve Simpson designed the Galway stamp, and both of the stamps make use of vibrant colors and festive figures, to highlight the celebration of the unique and year-long event in the two cities.
Both stamps are denominated at 8.60 Kuna, and they can be found right here in our catalogue. If you want to see the Irish versions, you can find them right here. The Irish-designed stamp was issued in a beautiful souvenir sheet.
