In the first part of May 2012, Romfilatelia magazines offered for sale a piece represented in Fig. 1, dedicated to the UEFA European League hosted on the National Arena in Bucharest on May 9th 2012. Also, the Bucharest philatelic market offered the piece indicated in Fig. 2.
The support of these pieces is represented by an illustrating postcard without a fixed mark, printed by Romfilatelia, and with the text: National Arena, host of UEFA European League Finals /Bucharest – May 9th 2012/© 2012 Romfilatelia www. romfilatelia.ro e-mailoffice@romfilatelia.ro.
Regarding the pieces presented above, the following comments have to be made:
- the first day cancellations (occasional) number 1 and 2 have not been made according to the rules of CNPR¹, not having written on them information regarding: the Romanian Post logo, postal code, the name and type of the postal office;
- the post mark number 1, records the city BUCHAREST, city that doesn’t exist on the Romanian territory;
- the post mark number 2, could not have been printed in the same day as the performance of the game, because the game ended at the time 23:25 of May 9th 2012, and at that time the Stamp Factory, as well as any other competent institution that could have made the support for such a post mark were not functioning;
- the post mark 1 and 2 do not figure on the occasional post marks list (occasional first day cancellations) approved by the CNPR².
Therefore, the pieces in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 can not be used in thematic philatelic exhibits, nor do they correspond to the definition of a maximum card, being a failure both from a postal point of view, as well as a philatelic one.
What is curios is that an important number of such pieces are offered to auction websites. There are many greenhorns in the philatelic world, not only national, but also international.
Here’s how, due to the lack of professionalism of the workers from Romfilatelia, a unique event held in Bucharest was a failure from the philatelic point of view.
